DIBRUGARH, April 9: Dibrugarh Heralding Good Friday and Easter Sunday, a high-quality musical drama depicting the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ was staged at Bishop Hubback Hostel, Dibrugarh on Tuesday.
Jointly organised by the Dibrugarh Inter-Church Forum (DICF) and the Christian Leaders Fellowship (CLF), the event drew a large and diverse audience from across the city.
The evening opened with two well-received welcome songs by Binita and Mabeni, followed by an invocation by Rev Benhur Soren, Pastor of Athabari Church. The event was anchored by Ansai Basumatary, who smoothly guided the flow of the programme.
Delivering the welcome address, Lamkholal Doungel, Adviser to DICF, said, “This Cantata is a powerful portrayal of the human and divine dimensions of the Easter story. It conveys a message of love, forgiveness, and hope that continues to resonate across cultures and generations.”
The Chief Guest, Assam Gaurav awardee Ram Chandra Sashoni, was felicitated by DICF with a traditional phulam gamosa and a citation in recognition of his contributions to public service.
A short address was given by Rev A Kithan ahead of the main performance—an hour-long musical drama of a high professional standard.
The performance offered a compelling narrative of the life, suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ, delivered through powerful acting, music, and stagecraft. The audience responded with appreciation for the thoughtful presentation and strong performances.
The evening concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Dennis Bird, President of DICF, who acknowledged the efforts of all involved in bringing the event to fruition.
The program was widely appreciated for its artistic merit, meaningful message, and smooth execution—making it a memorable cultural event in the city’s calendar.
