NABARD projects Rs 3245.15 cr credit potential for Nagaon, Rs 1257.70 cr for Hojai

NAGAON, Feb 26: Continuing its annual exercise under the Lead Bank Scheme and Priority Sector Lending guidelines, NABARD has prepared the Potential Linked Credit Plans (PLPs) for FY 2026-27 for Nagaon district and Hojai district. The plans, prepared by DDM-NABARD Rajendar Perna, map the realisable developmental potential in agriculture, MSME, export credit, education, housing, social infrastructure including renewable energy and informal/micro credit sectors.

For Nagaon district, the total potential is estimated at Rs 3,245.15 crore, with Rs 1,536.89 crore for agriculture, Rs 1,400.78 crore for MSMEs and Rs 307.48 crore for other priority sectors. The digital PLP was launched by DDC Debajani Choudhury during the DCC/DLRC meeting at the DC office in the presence of ADC Gopal Sharma, LDO, LDM, DDM-NABARD and other officials.

In Hojai, the estimated potential is Rs 1,257.70 crore, comprising Rs 476.02 crore for agriculture, Rs 634.85 crore for MSMEs and Rs 146.83 crore for other sectors. The PLP was launched digitally by DC Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati during the DCC/DLRC meeting at the DC office on February 24 with participation from LDO S D Bodalkar, LDM M N Bora, DDM-NABARD Rajendar Perna and representatives of banks and line departments.

The digital PLPs leverage technology for efficient credit projections and adopt a bottom-up approach, incorporating consultations with LDMs, bankers and line departments under the supervision of district commissioners and NABARD Assam Regional Office. They aim to enhance capital formation in agriculture and create innovative channels for rural credit delivery in both farm and non-farm sectors.
