NAGAON, Feb 8: Nagaon Forest Division booked over 178 offence cases especially for transporting of minor forest minerals or materials like sand, stone and earth from April, 2022 to till date. Besides, the same division also realised total revenues of Rs 1,27,98,269.00.
Sources from Nagaon Forest Division said that the department concerned seized 45 numbers of vehicles like dumpers and other trucks loaded with minor minerals or forest materials like sand, stone and earth even in the month of January of the current year and collected revenues of Rs 28, 15,355.00 from those offence cases under the forest division.
Similarly, within the last four months, the protection squad from Nagaon Protection range led by in-charge range officer Hemanta Saikia seized more than 60 numbers of dumpers and other trucks across the division for illegal transporting of forest minerals or other materials and also realised revenues over Rs 15 lakhs. The protection range even seized over 30 trucks as well as dumpers in the month of January for illegal transporting of minor forest minerals like sand, stone and earth, sources added further.
While speaking to this correspondent on Wednesday here, divisional forest officer Bhaskar Deka said that the officials from the division were being engaged in and around the district to crackdown all illegal transporting of forest minerals and also instructed to ensure a tight regular scrutiny at all ranges under the division so that no vehicle could be able to transport any forest material without proper documents or measures.
For that, I have already directed all the range officers to conduct regular drive on the road itself, DFO Deka asserted.
