NAGAON, Dec 27: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon inaugurated a bee-village at Sukatiputa village, under Pakhimoria block in the district on Tuesday.
The programme was initiated with a welcome speech of Dr Niranjan Deka, head, KVK, Nagaon. In his speech, Dr Deka explained about the objectives of the programme and also laid stress on the necessity and utility of bee keeping among the farmers.
Meanwhile Bhadreshwar Das, president of Tulasi Deori Gaon Panchayat, while addressing the occasion, spoke on economic upliftment of the farmers through beekeeping. Dinesh Pegu, BDO, Pakhimoria block, also took part in the programme and sorted out his valuable suggestions to reduce the elephant-human conflict. He urged the local farmers to uplift their income through beekeeping. Nitul Bhuyan and Rupeswar Bharali, member of Sonali Khudra Sanchay Group from Lakhimpur, were present in the programme as resource persons.
During the programme, over 14 boxes and bee hives were distributed among the selected farmers of the village. Dr Sinki Barman, SMS, Agricultural Economics and Farm Management and Dr Ashfeeka Islam, SMS, Community Science, KVK, Nagaon also participated in the programme.
The programme was anchored by Dr Animesh Deka, SMS, Animal Science, KVK, Nagaon. More than 120 farmers witnessed the entire programme hosted successfully by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon in collaboration with Noipam Agro Producer Company Ltd, Sukatiputa, Nagaon, a release added.
