National seminar held at Nowgong College

NAGAON, Nov 3: Department of Political Science, Nowgong College in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Nowgong College organised a two-day long national seminar sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) on ‘Synergies of Development, Peace and National Security: Contextualising the North East Region in India’s Geopolitics’. The seminar was held at the college premises from Thursday onwards here.
The seminar was inaugurated by Dr Amarjeet Singh Bhui, noted scholar of Political Science and principal of Lanka Mahavidyalaya, Hojai while Dr Sarat Borkatoki, principal of Nowgong College delivered the welcome address and Devasish Nath, assistant professor, department of Political Science of the same college anchored the inaugural session of the seminar.
Dr Bhuban Chandra Chetia, coordinator to internal quality assurance cell of the college, briefed on the current quality education, research and extension of the study in the college.
Additional director general of police (Special Branch), Assam Police, Hiren Chandra Nath addressed the seminar as the special guest through virtual mood from New Delhi.
Jayanta Krishna Sarma, noted scholar, poet, political analyst and head of the department, department of Political Science, Gauhati University, attended the seminar as the chief keynote speaker.
Over 200 participants from Assam as well as from across the country attended the programme, a release added.
