New species of bird discovered at Dhadum Talap in Tinsukia

The discovery of a new species of bird has created happiness among nature lovers of Assam as well as of India.

This joy has been created among nature lovers after the discovery of a new species of bird called – ‘Java Pond Heron’ at Dhadum Talap in Tinsukia district.

Binanda Hatibaruah, an ornithologist from Tinsukia district, who has been honoured with the Assam Gaurav Award has discovered this new species of bird.

The ornithologist first spotted the bird and shared it on social media and discussed the bird with various ornithologists.

It was only after this that it came to light that this new species of bird has been spotted for the first time in Dhadum Talap in Tinsukia district.

After the news was spread about the new species of Java Pond Heron that was found at Dhadum Talap in Tinsukia district there has been a celebration among the nature lovers of Assam as well as of India.

Many local and foreign nature lovers have come to the area to study and take pictures of this bird while discovery of the new species of bird has been highly appreciated to all those team members such as Asom Gaurav awardee and ornithologist from Tinsukia, Binanda Hatibaruah as well as photographers, Jyotimoy Baishya, Rocky Srivastav, Anidya Baruah and Pallol Hazarika.

Binanda Hatibaruah said, “Since many years, I have been giving my services on birds and as a result of our hard work, we discovered this new species of bird called – ‘Java Pond Heron’. Tourism sector may boost up at Dhadum Talap under Tinsukia district as tourists from our country and foreign shall arrive and many educated youths of this area will be able to establish themselves as tourist guides to earn their livelihood which is a good sign of development for a backward state like Assam.”
