GUWAHATI, Sept 10: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working relentlessly around the clock to serve its customers and ensure the timely delivery of essential commodities to end users. NFR continues to make steady progress in freight loading, and during the month of August 2024, the railway registered 0.803 million tonnes of freight loading across various commodities.
During August 2024, the loading of several commodities registered significant growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Cement loading increased by 112.5%, POL (Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants) loading increased by 3.7%, and fertiliser loading saw a 100% increase. Other commodities like timber and ballast also registered growth, with increases of 1500% and 13% respectively, when compared to the same period last year. Additionally, a 122.2% growth in the loading of miscellaneous items was recorded compared to the previous fiscal year during the same period.

This continuous growth in freight loading reflects the increasing economic activity in the region. The cumulative freight loading for NFR up to August 2024 reached 4.477 million tonnes, showing an 8% increase over the same period last year. This upward trend in freight operations has not only boosted the region’s economic dynamics but also generated significant revenue for NFR. As NFR continues to progress in freight transportation, it remains focused on technical upgrades to enhance the reliability and efficiency of its services, ensuring further growth in the future.
