BISWANATH CHARIALI, Sept 11: The National Human Rights and Crime Control Bureau (NHRCCB) submitted a memorandum to Himanta Biswa Sarma, chief minister of Assam and Amit Shah, Union Home minister requesting them to take necessary measures to implement the online RTI system in Assam.
Talking to this correspondent, the organisation’s Sonitpur district media officer Mrinmay Kumar Nath said that while there is no facility to file online RTI applications in Government offices under the Assam Government. On the contrary, online applications are available in many States of India including Bihar.
He also added that due to non-availability of online RTI systems, the public faces many problems in obtaining the necessary information. He further added that the most common problems faced by the public in this regard is the scarcity of postal orders at the post offices in rural areas or there is a long delay in receiving such postal orders on demand. Nishant Thord, chairman of NHRCCB Assam chapter has requested the offices under the Government of Assam to arrange online RTI as soon as possible.
