KOILAMATI, Sept 25: The Nilip Press Club (NPC) organised a cleaning drive at Semelangso waterfall picnic spot to clean the place, where broken beer bottles, rotten things, plastic and polythene bags are thrown around.
The NPC members collected the garbage and dumped it in one place. Environment friendly dustbins made with bamboo were made and placed at different places.
NPC vice president Kolomsing Teron said, “Many people who come for picnics at Semelangso waterfall bring along with them rice, meat, vegetables, snacks, food packets and drinks. But after the picnic, they leave the place dirty by throwing around liquor bottles, empty food packets, plastic and polythene bags. Therefore, the NPC decided to clean the place by organising a cleaning drive.”
NPC president Semson Ingti urged upon the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) to take up schemes for the development of the natural beauty of Semelangso waterfall so that people can come and enjoy the scenic beauty.
“By developing the place, revenue can be regenerated,” Ingti said. Semelangso village headman, Jali Ronghang also participated in the cleaning drive.
