Nowgong Mission HS School to celebrate 175 years of existence

NAGAON, Nov 2: Nowgong Mission Higher Secondary School, a leading educational institution of the small town, is all set to celebrate its glorious 175 years jubilee with two-day long programmes from November 17, 2022 onwards here.
The prestigious educational institution was established first in 1846 by Miles Bronson, an American missionary and the saviour of Assamese language, as an orphanage institution and later on it was scheduled as the centre of institutional education for women in Assam.
The celebration will start with a flag hoisting ceremony, flaunting 175 numbers of flags in the school campus itself followed by the inauguration of an exhibition as well as a devotional programme in the morning session on Nov 17, 2022. Besides, a souvenir and the annual school magazine titled ‘Peace’ will be ceremonially released too in the same session.
An alumni meet will also be held in the afternoon on the same day followed by a cultural programme in the evening.
On the second day, the celebration will be started with a cultural procession throughout the small town by the students, alumni, teachers as well as other dignitaries where national awardee, noted educationist and Assamese actress Malaya Goswami will be present as chief guest.
In the open session of the celebration, Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora, noted Assamese litterateur and former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha and vice chancellor of Srimanta Sankardev University of Health Science will be present as the chief guest. The celebration of 175 glorious years of the educational institution will be concluded with a cultural extravaganza in the evening on November 18, 2022, a press note added.
