NSS orientation programme held at Gauhati University

GUWAHATI, Sept 9: Gauhati University NSS Cell has been organising orientation programmes for NSS programme officers from Thursday which will end on September 10, 2022 at the university campus.
Nabaneet Mahanta, APS, deputy commissioner of police, West Guwahati Police District attended the programme as chief guest and enlightened the attendees about the different aspects of prevention of drug abuse and cyber-crime.
Mahanta highlighted the role of NSS volunteers for prevention and control of drug abuse in society.
Dipak Kumar, regional director, NSS, NER, Guwahati attended the programme as a guest of honour and focused on different aspects of NSS including the role of NSS programme officers which are to be carried out in their respective institutions.
Attending as resource person, Dr. Hemanta Rabha, training & capacity building specialist, ARIAS Society, under Government of Assam said, “We should follow the path of Mahatma Gandhi for upgrading the villages during village adoption by every NSS unit.”
Dr. Rabha further explained different resources in Atmanirbhar Bharat and scopes of entrepreneurship for the unemployed youths.
Dr. Ranjan Kr. Kakati, director, Students’ Welfare, GU & programme coordinator, GU NSS Cell coordinated the programme and appealed to all the NSS programme officers to carry out community and social service with a full spirit and dedication.
Nandini Kakati, APS, ACP Azara and NSS programme officers from different colleges under GU NSS Cell attended the programme.
