OBITUARY| Longki Teron

Former Evangelist of Karbi Anglong Baptist Convention (KABC) Longki Teron, who devoted his whole life for the service of God died due to lung and kidney disease at his Manja residence on April 15 last and his body was laid to rest at Manja Baptist Church burial ground on Easter Sunday. He was 72 years old. He is the son of late Thong Teron and late Banre Terangpi of Langtuk Rongpi village, Manja.

Despite his deformities of legs and hands due to previous sickness of leprosy, he had devoted his whole life working as an Evangelist praying for the sick and needy. He has been a popular figure as an Evangelist among the Christian community and has worked in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong and has toured in several places in Northeastern states and outside. He was instrumental in the foundation of the Healing Ministry in Karbi Anglong.

In 1978 he was called by God to work for him and from then he continued serving the Lord. For 15 years he worked as a KABC Evangelist. The Nihang Karbi Baptist Association (NKBA) has also used him as an Evangelist in the Healing Ministry.

After he came away from KABC, he was allotted a room to stay in the residence of JI Kathar, retired IAS, and he continued praying for the sick and performing his healing ministry.

The funeral service was led by principal, Hutton Bible Institute, NKBA, Rev. James Rongpi. Life history of the late Evangelist Longki Teron was read out by his family members. Special song in honour of Evangelist late Longki Teron was presented by members of Hidisajir Baptist Church and the family group of the late Evan. Longki Teron.

His body was taken into procession from his residence to Manja Baptist Church burial ground to lay him to final resting, which was joined by family members, church leaders and members of various churches. The funeral service was participated by executive secretary, NKBA, Rev. Tenson Bey, member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Pobitro Rongpi and his wife, secretary, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Herolus Millik, JI Kathar, retired IAS including pastors, Church leaders and members of various churches.

His body was finally laid to rest at Manja Baptist Church burial ground.
