DULIAJAN, April 3: Oil India Limited (OIL) has launched nutritional support to active Tuberculosis (TB) cases in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Charaideo in Assam and Changlang in Arunachal Pradesh under OIL’s CSR project SPARSHA.
The initiative was launched on March 28 at an official programme held in Dibrugarh in the presence of Dr Abhijit Basu, state TB officer, Dr Dhruba Deka, consultant TB, World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr Tisna Borah, joint director of health services, Dibrugarh, Dr G S Gogoi, joint director of health services Tinsukia and other government officials and officials from OIL.
As part of this initiative, a nutritional support package containing vitamins and nutritional supplements will be delivered every month at the doorstep of identified TB patients until the culmination of the treatment schedule. These beneficiaries, who were identified through surveys conducted during the ongoing OIL SPARSHA project; will also be counseled on timely consumption and importance of medication and nutrition to combat the infection. The project will be implemented in close coordination with the state government’s TB department.
OIL’s ongoing CSR project – OIL SPARSHA is implemented in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Charaideo & Changlang districts for providing Mobile Dispensary Service which is aimed at provisioning the primary health care requirements of the villagers in these districts through services of doctors, paramedics, free of cost medicines and on-spot lab testing facilities. Through this project, OIL is extending door to door support to the TB infected cases in these villages while aligning with PM’s vision.
