SIVASAGAR, Dec 9: Six ‘Paddy Procurement Centers’ were opened in Sivasagar district for the kharif season of 2022-23 to benefit the farmers of the district.
These Paddy Procurement Centers are Morabazar (AFCSCL), Amguri/Shalaguri (NAFED), Demow (AFCSCL), Khanamukh (FCI), Sivasagar (AFCSCL) and Nazira (AFCSCL).
The farmers will be able to sell paddy at the MSP at a minimum of Rs 2040 per quintal. Therefore, all farmers have been requested to register through the local agricultural extension officer and prepare the necessary documents to sell the paddy at the nearest paddy procurement centre. The selling price of paddy will be deposited directly into the bank accounts of the farmers by the paddy procurement centres.
Private traders cannot purchase paddy from farmers at less than the minimum price fixed by the government i.e. Rs 2040 under any circumstances. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department of Sivasagar has issued a notice to the traders saying that legal action will be taken against them in case of violation of the government notifications.
