BAKALIA: 14th Pichak Damasi, the festival of the Tiwa tribe will be held from April 30 to May 1 at Kachomari Chariali, Rajapathar. The two-day festival is being organised by Pichak Damasi Organising Committee and Tiwa Mathanlai Tokhra, Tiwa Sanskritik Samaj, Sadou Tiwa Mohila Sanstha, Sadou Tiwa Students Association and Tiwa tribesmen of Rajapathar area.

On day one, prayer will be offered at 7 am; at 7;30 am flag hoisting program will take place which will be followed by Smriti Tarpan and saplings plantation. A Tiwa poem and drawing competition will also be held. Tiwa folk dance will be performed.

Executive members of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Surjya Rongphar; D Uphing Maslai and Madhuram Lekhte will attend the inauguration. On the concluding day, an open meeting will be held. MLA Bidyasing Engleng will attend the event as chief guest.

President Sarat Pator and secretary Kartik Dekaraja of 14th Pichak Damasi Celebration Committee appealed to the people for their cooperation and participation for the grand success of the festival.
