GUWAHATI, Oct 11: Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary under Guwahati Wildlife Division was declared open for tourist season 2022-23 on Tuesday by Chandra Mohan Patowary, minister for Environment and Forest and Pijush Hazarika, minister, Water Resources, etc., in presence of Anindiya Swargiary, PCCF Wildlife, Assam.
The programme was attended by tourists, local residents and EDC members of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. Along with the ceremonial opening of Elephant and Jeep Safari, ‘Banasrishti’ (an APFBC initiative), an outlet for sale of products made by Eco Development Committees of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary was also inaugurated. A guided trek route from Owguri to Nishan Tilla via Baghmara Rock in Rajamayong Hill of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary was also inaugurated which will open up avenues for livelihood and ecotourism along with showcasing the rich biodiversity and scenic landscape of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.
K S P V Pavan Kumar, APCCF and PD, APFBC; Dr Satyendra Singh, APCCF (HQ); Morigaon DC Devasish Sharma; Aparna Natarajan, SP, Morigaon; Tarani Kanta Singha, traditional king of Mayong and other senior forest officials were present on the occasion. Â
