Police nab co-accused in Jorhat shooting incident

JORHAT, Nov 29: Another accused in the shooting incident at the Marwari Thakurbari area here on Saturday night, in which an employee of a wholesale shop was shot at was apprehended by a Jorhat police team at Lumding railway station of Hojai district on Tuesday night.
When contacted Jorhat SP ML Meena said that the arrested had been identified as Rahul Sahoo but also goes by the names of Rajesh Sahoo, Nini and other names and his real name would have to be ascertained.
The SP said that Sahoo operates in different districts from rented houses and even from Dimapur.
The SP added that he had several phones and multiple SIM cards bought in Dimapur.
The SP said that the accused was originally a resident of Gayan Gaon, Jorhat where he once lived with his mother and sister.
The SP added that he accused was involved in several crimes mostly of bike lifting and one of murder in Golaghat district.
Rahul was driving the motorcycle in which his accomplice Pranjal Bora alias Deha was riding pillion and was the main accused in shooting the worker of the shop when the extortion bid failed.
Pranjal Bora was caught by the victim and another worker of the shop but Rahul managed to flee in the motorcycle.
The SP said that for the past three days police teams were searching for Rahul and there was information that he was switching trains.
