Prohibitory order issued at forest reserve areas of Lekhapani

MARGHERITA, Dec 12: A prohibitory order has been issued on Monday by Preeti Kumari, IAS, the sub-divisional magistrate of Margherita against illegal entry of unauthorised persons, vehicles like excavators, JCBs, dumpers and against man-made damages like deforestation, felling of valuable trees, poaching, illegal mining and encroachment at Lekhapani, Tirap and Tipong Reserve Forests under Lekhapani Forest Range of Digboi forest division under Tinsukia district.
“The order was issued to maintain law and order and protect the environment of the three reserve forests of Lekhapani range, Digboi division from illegal activities like clearing jungles, uprooting valuable trees, poaching of wild animals, illegal mining and transportation of coal,” said Preeti Kumari.
“The violators of the order will be punishable under Section 188 of IPC and the order has been in force from December 7, 2022 and will continue for a period of 60 days or till it is withdrawn or altered whichever is earlier,” added Preeti Kumari, IAS sub-divisional officer (civil) and sub-divisional magistrate of Margherita.
