Tezpur, May 1: To commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a two-day event is being organised at Hattigor, in the district of Udalguri from Sunday. The event is being organised by Red Horns Division with the aim of generating a spirit of national pride with integration of the rich cultural heritage of Assam.
The event is conducted at Khairabari sports ground to showcase the rich and diverse traditions of the region facilitated so as to portray local traditional dance forms to include Bareboromia, Kandh, Sawda and Bihu. Various cultural stalls displaying local bamboo handicrafts and Boro handicrafts will also be displayed. Other activities will include a mini marathon, free medical camp, interaction with NCC cadets, arts competition, cultural programs and screening of motivational videos for the local populace. The event portrays the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Assam in its entirety. This was said in an Army press release issued by A S Walia, Lt Col, PRO (Defence).
