TEZPUR, April 7: Noted poet, singer, dramatist, stage actor, orator of Tezpur and a retired deputy director under Directorate of Information and Public Relation, Government of Assam, Indu Bhushan Nath died on Wednesday at his Hazarapar residence here due to old age related ailment. He was 82 and is survived by two daughters and a son. He was connected with several cultural organisations of Tezpur including the Baan Stage. He served as DIPRO at Tezpur for multiple terms, first from September 1, 1981 to November 4, 1988 and his second stint was from October 3, 1994 to October 31, 1998. He retired from his service on October 31, 1998.
Besides writing a number of articles in various dailies and journals, he had written ‘Mur Jibanar Xon Sekura’, ‘Asinaki Dexor Sinaki Xadhu’, ‘Galpa Pancha Binxoti’, ‘Bokul Fulor Mala’, ‘Kabita Aru Geet’ and a play ‘Aita’. Along with DIPRO Sonitpur Neena Baruah, the staff of the office paid their last respect to the departed soul.
His death was widely mourned by different distinguished individuals and organisations including Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das, Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rava, former MLA of Tezpur Brindaban Goswami, Sonitpur DC Bhupesh Chandra Das, former Sonitpur DC Jadab Chandra Sarma, general secretary Assam Sahitya Sabha Pankaj Kumar Nath, president AAJU Mrigen Bora, vice president Asam Natya Sanmilan Subhas Chandra Biswas, president Sonitpur Press Club Mahendra Kumar Nath, etc.
