MARGHERITA, April 20: Samannay Social Welfare Youth Organisation Margherita committee on Tuesday organised ‘One Day Rongali Bihu Celebration’ and felicitation programme at Margherita India club.
Lakhikanta Borah, president of Samannay Social Welfare Youth Organisation Margherita central committee unfurled the organisation flag followed by planting of saplings by the present members.
Dr Ranjit Dutta, noted social worker, renowned writer and poet of Ledo, Margherita inaugurated the Rongali Bihu celebration where different groups from various parts of Margherita performed Bihu dance and enthralled the whole audience.
An open session was held which was presided by Dr Ranjit Dutta where distinguished persons of Margherita region were felicitated for their contributions in various fields such as Dil Bahadur Sonar noted tea planter of Margherita, Debojit Baruah noted educationist of Margherita, Umesh Borah noted writer of Margherita and Bobby Hazarika women entrepreneur and Assam Gaurav awardee from Margherita.
Hirokhjyoti Neog general secretary of Samannay social welfare youth organisation of the Central committee moderated the whole programme and thanked all the people for making the programme successful.
