Rongali Bihu celebrated in Margherita

MARGHERITA, April 24: The Samannay Social Welfare Youth Organisation Central Committee in collaboration with the Margherita Regional committee organised Rongali Bihu celebration and felicitation programme at Margherita India Club Auditorium on Wednesday.

The Rongali Bihu celebrations began with hoisting of the organisation flag, which was unfurled by Lakhi Kanta Borah, president of Samannay Social Welfare Youth Association central committee. This was followed by Swahid Tarpan by organising secretary, Binod Das.

After that an open session was held which was presided by noted writer, poet and president of Asom Kabi Sanmeloni Tinsukia district committee, Ranjit Dutta. Many distinguished persons were attended the celebrations, where they were felicitated by the traditional Assamese Cheleng Sadors and mementos.

Dutta in his speech said that Rongali Bihu is the biggest festival of the state where all people irrespective of caste, creed, race, language and religion participate and enjoy this festival with great fervour and harmony.

A total of 10 Bihu Husori groups performed the Bihu dance, enthralling the audience.
