GUWAHATI, Nov 16: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has continued its strong action against smuggling, apprehending 37 persons involved in trafficking narcotics and contraband items worth approximately Rs 9.40 crore during October 2025.
In a series of operations this month, the RPF made multiple recoveries:
On November 13, the RPF at New Coochbehar recovered 37.1 kg of unclaimed ganja worth Rs 3.71 lakh at the railway station. The seized narcotics were handed over to the OC/GRP, New Coochbehar.
On the same day, joint teams of RPF and GRP at Agartala and Lumding recovered 23.61 kg of ganja worth RS 2.36 lakh. The items were handed over to respective GRP authorities.
On November 12, RPF teams from Dharmanagar, Agartala and Rangapara North recovered 50.51 kg of ganja valued at Rs 5.05 lakh, which was also handed over to the concerned GRP units.
Northeast Frontier Railway lauded the coordinated efforts of RPF personnel across its divisions, along with the support of GRP and Customs officials. The railway authority said such operations are vital to ensuring the safety of railway premises and curbing illegal activities within its jurisdiction.
