TEZPUR, Sept 11: Sahitya Akademi awardee poet and writer Gyan Pujari expressed deep concern about the increasing mental pressure and stress among students during a meeting held to confer the ‘Gangotri Goswami Memorial Award’ at Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Gohpur. He emphasized the need for a stress-free educational environment and urged everyone to work towards creating such an atmosphere for students.

The ‘Gangotri Goswami Memorial Award’ is presented every year in memory of the late Gangotri Goswami of Tezpur. This year, the award was given to Darshana Kashyap, an economically disadvantaged but brilliant student from Kenduguri, Bihpuria. The award aims to honor the memory of Gangotri Goswami, who was known for her academic excellence and achievements in various competitions.

Gangotri Goswami, a versatile student, tragically passed away in a road accident on December 16, 2015. Since 2016, her family has been presenting this award on her birthday to economically disadvantaged students, continuing her legacy of excellence.

During the event, Pankaj Barua, president of Akanir Sahitya Sabha, Uday Aditya Goswami, Head of Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Principal Jayanta Saikia, and Senior Scribe Bhuban Saikia highlighted the significance of the award, which not only keeps Gangotri’s memory alive but also helps economically disadvantaged students continue their education with a sense of social responsibility.
