Sarkari Sangeet Vidyalaya celebrates Jyoti Prasad Agarwala’s birth anniversary

MORIGAON, June 17: The Sarkari Sangeet Vidyalaya (SSV), Morigaon, celebrated the birth anniversary of ‘Rup Konwar’ Jyoti Prasad Agarwala with fanfare at the cultural hall of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha Zila Namghar, Morigaon, on Monday. The programme titled ‘Jyoti Alok Sandhanere Rabhar Aabhare Haou Aami Jyotisman’ was organised by Sankari Sangeet Vidyalaya (SSV), Morigaon.

At the beginning of the programme, the members of Sankari Sangeet Vidyalaya (SSV), Morigaon, felicitated the invited guests. The former state general secretary of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha (SSS), Babul Bora, spoke at length about Rup Konwar’s life. Thereafter, Angshuman Dutta, the district cultural officer (DCO) of Morigaon, inaugurated the programme with a valuable speech. Speaking on the occasion, the DCO said, “Rup Konwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala’s dedication towards the upliftment of Assamese culture is remarkable.”

The president of Sankari Sangeet Vidyalaya (SSV), Morigaon, Gyan Mohan Deka, welcomed the invited guests and students to the programme. The principal of Sankari Sangeet Vidyalaya (SSV), Morigaon, Prasanna Kr Medhi, along with Guru Tapash Bordoloi, Utpala Hukai, and some aspirants of SSV, Morigaon—Mantu Kr Nath, Ramajit Bordoloi, Ajoy Deoraja, Binaram Deori, Bhabananda Mahanta, Basanta Raj Kumar Goswami, Jitu Deka, Sonamoni Deka, and Tapan Sarai—conducted the felicitation programme.

The programme started with a chorus performed by the guardians of the students of SSV, Morigaon, directed by Prasanna Kr Medhi. Thereafter, students of SSV performed songs and dances, paying tribute to ‘Rup Konwar’ Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and ‘Kalaguru’ Bishnu Prasad Rabha.
