Sati Radhika Bota to Dr Nirupoma Mahanta

SIVASAGAR, July 25: 
Dr Nirupoma Mahanta, an erudite scholar of Vaishnavite literature and a writer received the Sati Radhika Bota 2022 from Sivasagar district SC Student Union in a function held in Aaiya Auditorium on Saturday. The award was handed over to Dr Mahanta by Sahityacharya Dr Nahendra Padun. In his speech, Padun said that awards like this will strengthen the bond of communal harmony among different groups in Assam.
In his welcome address, Parashjyoti Das said that the Assamese society was divided into smaller groups on lines of caste and creed and a section of them considered another section as an outcast. Sati Radhika fought against segregation for equality and for dignity. Das said that the government of Assam has promised construction of Sati Radhika Kshetra in Majuli and institute Sati Radhika Award from government initiative.
Receiving the award Dr Niruoma Mahanta said that she was overwhelmed to have been selected for the award instituted in the name of a great woman personality recognised by Sri Sankardeva. She added that our women need to imbibe the ideals of inner truth, chastity, and self-restraint shown by Sati Radhika. In the function, Sangeeta Bora, Kalpana Hazarika, and Rinjana Das were given Sati Radhika Adarsha Bota for their distinctions in their respective fields. The meeting was also addressed by Dr Ranjana Das, Dr Saumerjyoti Mahanta, Jagat Hazarika, and Haresh Das.
