SBI ATM looted in Jorhat

JORHAT, Nov 11: Miscreants looted cash from a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM at Cinnamara Tini-Ali
beside the Gar-Ali road under the Cinnamara Police Outpost on the outskirts of Jorhat on the
intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
The gang after committing the crime set the ATM on fire. According to local people, a shopkeeper of the
area first spotted smoke coming out of the room housing the ATM with the shutters broken.
Police and SBI officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
According to source,s it is suspected that the culprits may have used tools like gas cutters and other
items to break the machine and take away the cash, estimated to be several lakhs.
The gang damaged the CCTV camera and had burnt the ATM. Investigation is on to nab the miscreants.
Meanwhile, on the same night miscreants made an attempt to break another SBI ATM at Mudoijan on
the eastern outskirts of Jorhat.
