Second phase of Gunotsav 2023 concludes successfully

GUWAHATI, Feb 5: The 2nd phase of Gunotsav-2023 completed successfully on Saturday. It was held from February 1 to 4, 2023 in 12 districts of Assam – Baksa, Chirang, Charaideo, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Jorhat, Kamrup Metropolitan, Sonitpur, Tinsukia, West Karbi Anglong districts and also in Hojai (part of Nagaon district) and 114 schools of Biswanath (part of Sonitpur district). A total of 14,62,886 students from class 1 to 9 of 15,681 schools (government/provincialised schools, Tea Garden Management Schools, Adarsha Vidyalaya, Tea Garden Model Schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya) were evaluated in the exercise.
During the evaluation process, IAS, IPS, IFS, ACS, APS, AFS and other grade 1 and 2 officers, etc., took active part as external evaluators. Similarly, ministers, MPs, MLAs, EMS also took part in various schools as external evaluators and interacted with the students, teachers, parents/guardians, mother groups, and community members, etc.
On February 2, the first day of external evaluation, Ranoj Pegu, minister of Education (Elementary, Secondary & Higher) department, Tribal Welfare department and Indigenous faith & Culture (Directorates of Library & Museum) visited Ambari Navajug LP School, Champabati High School, Ambari High School and Bathupuri Bodo High School of Kamrup Metropolitan district and interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members, etc.
Similarly, Nandita Gorlosa, minister for Power, Mines & Minerals, Cooperation and Indigenous Tribal Faith & Culture department visited Anandapur LP School of Baksa district; Urkhao Gwra Brahma, minister of Handloom & Textile, Sericulture, Bodoland Welfare and Soil Conservation visited Bhetagaon Biswajyoti LP School of Chirang district; Sanjoy Kishan, Welfare of Tea Tribes, Labour & Employment minister visited Ram Chandra Agrawal LP School of Tinsukia district; Ranjeet Kr Dass, minister of Panchayat & Rural Development, Public Health Engineering, Food & Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs visited Gopal Krishna Girls High School and Guijan KGBV as external evaluators.
On February 3, the second day of external evaluation, Atul Bora, minister for Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, UDD and Town & Country Planning visited Nandi Mikir LP School of Kamrup Metropolitan district; Nandita Gorlosa, minister for Power, Mines & Minerals, Cooperation and Indigenous Tribal Faith & Culture department visited Anchali HS School and Milan High School of Baksa district; Urkhao Gwra Brahma, minister of Handloom & Textile, Sericulture, Bodoland Welfare and Soil Conservation visited Gossaigaon Sr Basic School of Chirang district; Sanjoy Kishan, Welfare of Tea Tribes, Labour & Employment minister visited Silapathar Society LP School, Debeswar Taye ME School and Batgharia HS School of Dhemaji district as external evaluators.
On February 4, the third day of external evaluation, Ranoj Pegu, minister of Education (Elementary, Secondary & Higher) department, Tribal Welfare department and Indigenous faith & Culture (Directorates of Library & Museum) visited Nalanipam LP School, Bharali Chuk LP School, Rupnath Brahma High School and Khagari Dihingia LP School of Dhemaji district; Ashok Singhal, minister of Housing and Urban Affairs & Irrigation department visited Bihaguri Girls High School of Sonitpur district and interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, etc., as external evaluators.
The external evaluators evaluated the performance of the students on scholastic in both skill (reading, writing & numeracy/basic mathematical operations) and subject areas as well as other indicators of the schools.
It may be mentioned that the third phase of Gunotsav-2023 will be held from February 15 to 18, 2023 in 8 districts viz Bongaigaon, Cachar, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Morigaon, Nalbari and Biswanath (part of Sonitpur district). A total of 11,915 schools (govt/provincialised schools, Tea Garden Management Schools, Adarsha Vidyalaya, Tea Garden Model Schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya) and 11,94,856 students from classes 1 to 9 will be covered in the third phase of Gunotsav-2023.
