Silver jubilee celebration of Naduar Press Club

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Nov 30: Naduar Press Club, an umbrella organisation of the journalists of the greater Naduar area is all set to observe its silver jubilee year of inception with a three-day programme on December 2, 3 and 4, this year at Jamugurihat.
In this connection, a reception committee was constituted recently with Nitumani Bora as president, Bulud Ahmed as secretary, Jayanta Bora, working president and Shailen Borkataky and Jyoti Bhattacharjya as vice presidents in a public meeting held at the Inspection Bungalow, Jamugurihat with Phanindra Barua, president of Naduar Press Club in the chair.
A series of competitions including drawing, news reading and news writing will be held on December 2. Similarly, Phanindra Barua, president of Naduar Press Club will hoist the main flag along with other representatives of 25 indigenous bodies on second day which will be followed by smriti tarpan to be offered by Bhaba Goswami, president of Barechahar Bhaona Committee. A get together, felicitation programme and representatives meeting will be held on the same day.
Nitumani Bora, the president of the reception committee, addressing a press meet held in the conference hall of the IB, Jamugurihat on Tuesday, stated that it has decided to confer ‘Bharali Konwar’ title on Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika for the distinguishing contributions in the field of socio-political and cultural life, agri entrepreneurship, economic and for his overall contribution in the concluding session.
A cultural process will be taken out on the last day to welcome MLA Hazarika. The title will be awarded to him in the open session that will be held at the playground of the Inspection Bungalow of Jamugurihat. The open session will be inaugurated by Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, DGP, Assam Police which will be attended by Padmasree Yese Dorje Thongsi, litterateur Rita Choudhury as chief guests. An anthology compiled on the life and works of Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika will be released by Dr Ilias Ali, an eminent physician. The open session will be attended by journalist Prakash Mahanta as an appointed speaker which will also be attended by popular singer Mahendra Hazarika, Bhupesh Chandra Das, journalist Bidyut Bikash Bhuyan as guests besides other dignitaries. The press meet was attended by Bulu Ahmed, secretary, Jayanta Bora, working president, Shailen Barkataky and Jyoti Bhattacharjya, vice presidents along with others. The reception committee and Naduar Press Club seek all sorts of support and cooperation to make the event a success.
