Singer Manisha Hazarika receives ‘Padmashri Pratima Barua Pandey Byatikram Inspirational Award 2022’

GUWAHATI, Dec 27: Byatikram MASDO, one of the leading socio-cultural organisations in Assam organised the 20th death anniversary of Padmashri Pratima Barua Pandey on Tuesday at PWD Convention Centre, Dispur. Remembering the legendary singer on her death anniversary, eminent singer Manisha Hazarika was conferred with the prestigious ‘Padmashri Pratima Barua Pandey Byatikram Inspirational Award 2022’ on the occasion.
The event was graced by Parbati Barua, popularly known as ‘Queen of Elephant’; and various other well-known singers such as Prabin Saikia, Rashmi Rekha Saikia, Baby Bhuyan, Polly Koch, assistant director, Labour Welfare department and many other distinguished guests.
Manisha Hazarika said, “I feel honoured to have received this prestigious award remembering Padmashri Pratima Barua Pandey on her death anniversary. Her contribution to popularising Goalpariya folk music will always resonate among us forever. She is the pride of our state and will always be remembered for her mesmerizing voice.”
Dr. Saumen Bharatiya, president, Byatikram MASDO said, “Padmashri Pratima Barua Pandey, the queen of the famous zamindar family of Gauripur, is an ever-revered artist of Koch-Rajbongshi folk songs. Her folk songs will forever remain in the hearts of the people which showcase the loving bond between elephants and humans thereby creating a great impact on the lives of the people all over the world.”
The event was then followed by a few mesmerising song performances by Alaka Pandey, Jaba Chakraborty, Chandasri Chakravarty, Mini Bhattacharya, Amrina Jeriana, Gitanjali Kakati, Dr Jayashree Devi, Anulata Nath Singha, Nayanika Hazarika, Samima Begum Aashwash Ayushman and many more.
