Tezpur, Nov 03: A popular dancer from Tezpur received a national award yesterday in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. At the same event, her only daughter, a skilled Sattriya dancer, captivated the Sri Lankan audience with a mesmerizing performance of Sattriya dance.
It is noteworthy that in a grand cultural programme organized yesterday by the Indian Art and Cultural Society in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Ruby Bora Bordoloi, wife of late renowned singer Pankaj Bordoloi of Tezpur, was conferred the “Global Arts Award.”

During the same event, Violina Bordoloi, the only daughter of Ruby Bora Bordoloi, showcased her exceptional talent by performing Sattriya dance, bringing pride and honor to Assam and Tezpur.
Renowned dance artist Ruby Bora Bordoloi, through her dance institution “Nupur Nrityangana” established in Tezpur, has been training new generations of students in Sattriya as well as various other dance forms. Over the years, she has led her students to perform and compete at more than 15 national-level events and on international platforms in Greece, Dubai, Singapore, Bali, Thailand, Colombo, Nepal, and Bhutan, earning recognition and bringing glory to Assam.
As a recognition of these continuous contributions to the field of dance and cultural promotion, the Indian Art and Cultural Society, Colombo, honored her with the prestigious “Global Artist Award.”
It is worth mentioning that this major event, titled “Sri Lanka Conclave,” was held from October 29 to 31, and Ruby Bora Bordoloi was the only artist from the entire Northeast region to be conferred with this national-level award — a news that has filled the people of Tezpur with joy and pride.
Furthermore, her daughter Violina Bordoloi, who had earlier represented Tezpur in various international events through her Sattriya performances, once again brought glory to Tezpur and the state of Assam with her brilliant Sattriya dance presentation at the same event yesterday.
