MARGHERITA, Nov 29: The swearing-in ceremony of the newly formed All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA) Tinsukia District Committee was successfully held on Sunday at Chandmari Tea Garden, Tinsukia.
The newly elected president of AASAA Tinsukia District Committee, Albert Oriya; general secretary, Jarnel Minz, including other 32 members and All Assam Adivasi Mahila Shakti Tinsukia District Committee, president, Rishma Orang; general secretary Dipanjali Kaita, including other 30 members were present during the swearing-in ceremony.
The vice president of AASAA Central Committee, Ramanus Lakra; joint secretary Raja Kujur; former president of AASAA Tinsukia District Committee and present chief advisor Joseph Bading; senior advocate of Tinsukia and legal advisor of AASAA Tinsukia District Committee, Ignatius Ekka and more than 100 AASAA members from all branch committee under Tinsukia district were present during the swearing-in ceremony.
Jarnel Minz said, “Since the formation of All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA), the organisation has raised voices and fought for the rights of Adivasi people and shall continue to fight for the same. The organisation is committed to safeguard Adivasi people of Assam from exploitation and deprivation by the government, both Union and state.”
Ignatius Ekka, senior advocate of Tinsukia and legal advisor of AASAA Tinsukia District Committee said, “We demand the government, both at the Union and state to immediately grant ST status to the Adivasi people living in Assam and to provide Rs 350 daily wages to all the tea garden workers of Assam.”
The newly elected leaders of AASAA Tinsukia District Committee promised during the swearing-in ceremony that till the last drop of blood remains in their body they shall raise their voice and fight for the rights of Adivasi people living in Assam.
