Technical session on ‘Seed Sector in Assam’ organised

GUWAHATI, Dec 19: A technical session on ‘Seed Sector in Assam’ was held at the seminar hall of 7th Assam International Agri-Horticultural Show 2022 on Monday, under the chairmanship of Mowsam Hazarika, director, Assam Seed and Organic Certification Agency.
Dr Ashok Sharma, principal scientist, ICAR – Directorate of Rapeseed and Mustard Research, Rajasthan delivered a lecture on self-sufficiency of quality mustard seed in Assam. Dr Mrinal Saikia, associate director of Research, AAU highlighted the pulses seed production in Assam in the seminar.
Dr Swati Nayak, IRRI; Dr Rupam Buragohain, principal scientist, Directorate of Research, AAU; Dr Ramani Thakuria, principal scientist, Agronomy, AAU and Dr R P Singh, team leader, Seed Vertical, APART, Assam also highlighted about the quality paddy seed production, involvement of farmers in quality seed production, fodder seed scenario in Assam and roadmap for seed sector in Assam respectively in the seminar.
Dr Arunima Dev Choudhury, state consultant, NFSM, Assam delivered a welcome address in the seminar. Several farmers coming from different parts of Assam participated in the seminar.
