GUWAHATI, April 8: Topcem Cement organised “Topcem Rongali Bihu Celebration 2022”, a celebratory programme on the occasion of Bohag Bihu for old age homes, child care homes and specially abled children from various institutions. Bohag Bihu also known as the Rongali Bihu celebrates the arrival of spring. Bohag Bihu is also recognised as the season of joy, celebration, fun and more. It is also the season of giving. In keeping with this spirit, this year also, Topcem Cement has committed itself to spread the Bohag Bihu cheer among senior citizens of old age homes, children of child care homes and specially abled children from various institutions, with their annual Bohag Bihu celebration programs.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Anil Kapur, president, Sales & Marketing, Meghalaya Cement Ltd. Said, “Topcem has always worked in various fields for the development of the society and will continue to do so in the near future. Working with specially abled children, Old Age Homes and Child Care Homes have always been a valuable part of Topcem cements’ various activities. Rongali Bihu Celebration is the most important among all.”
Topcem Rongali Bihu Celebration 2022 started on Friday, with the first activity being organised in Pramod Talukdar Memorial Old Age Home and featured distribution of gifts, bihu delicacies – pitha, laru, etc., and flower pots accompanied by Bihu dance. Similar activities will also be organised at Shishu Sarothi- Guwahati, Amoya Chalihaloy- Open Shelter for Boys–Guwahati, Amar Ghar- Guwahati, Sonapur Govt Old age Home- Sonapur, Kalyani Niwas Children Home for girls- Guwahati, Seneh – Guwahati and Ashadeep Rehabilitation Centre- Boko across the districts of Kamrup(M) and Kamrup spread over 4 days.
Along with the regular yearly activities Topcem Cement added one more activity this year with the theme – FLOWER PLANTS FOR THE OLD AGE HOMES Child Care Homes – ENHANCING THE LIVES OF SENIORS and INMATES. Under this initiative Topcem Cement will donate flower pots to develop a flower zone in the participating institutions. This is because the impact of flowers on them is one that elicits happiness, endurance and cheerfulness. Flowers help boost mood, combat depression and lower levels of anxiety. The activities will end on April 12, 2022.
Topcem Cement has been spreading the joy of Bohag Bihu festivities among the inmates of old age homes, orphanages, mental health homes and specially abled children every year since 2010.
