Toren Chandra Boro to receive Ahmed Ali Baskandi Award 2024

KOKRAJHAR, June 18: Noted writer, former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), and presently convenor of Bodo Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, Toren Chandra Boro has been named for the prestigious ‘Ahmed Ali Baskandi Award 2024’. The award is conferred by the Department of Cultural Affairs, government of Assam, to individuals who have made significant contributions to the upliftment of language, literature, culture, communal harmony, and tranquility among communities in the state.

The award will be presented on June 20, 2024, during the Bishnu Rabha Divas celebration at Darrang College, Tezpur. Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will grace the occasion as the chief guest.

The award includes a citation, robes (anga bastra), xorai, and Rs 1 lakh. Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, has extended his warm greetings and congratulations to Toren Chandra Boro for this achievement.

Dr Surath Narzary, president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and Dipen Boro, president of ABSU, have also extended their warm congratulations to Boro on being honoured with this award.
