Tezpur, Sept 28: A training on nutrient management practices of rice, mustard and vegetable crops was held under APART project at KVK Sonitpur with technical support of International Fertiliser Development Centre (IFDC).
Addressing the participants, Dr. Ranjit Bordoloi, Subject Matter Specialist of KVK Sonitpur narrated the importance of integrated nutrient management in agriculture for better productivity while Dr. Rajiv Kumar Joon and Dr. Ravikant Majumdar, Scientists from IFDC acted as resource persons. They also talked about the advantages of using such technologies like less environmental pollution, low residual effect and better efficiency over traditional broadcasting methods. They also explained about the proper method and time of application of nano urea and fertiliser briquettes in the field and latest technologies of fertiliser application.
Attending the event as one of the speakers, Dr. Namita Dutta, from KVK, spoke on Azolla, Vermicompost and other organic fertiliser application in the field also aptly explaining the benefits of usage of such fertilisers in proper dose along with chemical fertilisers for integrated nutrient management.
Other dignitaries including Palash Thengal, project associate, Dibyajyoti Saikia, assistant project scientist under APART, Rajib Lochan Sahu and Debajit Bhuyan from APART were also present in the programme.
The training was attended by nearly forty farmers of Sonitpur district. Earlier in her welcome address Rupsikha Goswami, assistant project scientist, APART, KVK talked about the objectives of the training programme and importance of judicious use of fertilisers.
