MORIGAON, June 22: A tree plantation drive was organised on Sunday at Baghara Chariali, Sarbajanin Siva Mandir, and Majgaon Namghar in Morigaon by Jeeban Jeuti Krishak Sangha (JJKS) and Seuj Paribesh Suraksha Monch Asom (SPSMA), two prominent non-governmental organisations working in the field of conservation and farming in Assam.
Members of the organisations planted saplings of various species, including Spanish Cherry, Night Jasmine, and Mango, as part of the initiative to promote environmental sustainability.
The campaign was inaugurated by Lakheswar Deka, Advisor of the Business Association.
The event was also attended by several notable individuals, including Basanta Deka, former President of the Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chhatra Parishad (Morigaon District) and former Secretary of Baghara Anchalik Samiti; and Deben Das, Advisor of Baghara Anchalik Samiti.
Young writer Jayant Sagar Saikia from Jagiroad graced the programme as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, President of the All Assam Krishak Sangha (AAKS) Tulshi Deka extended his gratitude to all participants and urged collective support for the ongoing ‘Morigaon – Tree Village, Our Village, Clean Village’ mission.
