DIPHU, Nov 16: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Karbi Anglong held a one-day workshop on ‘Tribal Legacy and Ethnicity’ on Saturday as part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsha Pakhwada celebrations. The event aimed to celebrate tribal heritage and promote indigenous agricultural practices.
The programme, hosted by SMS Agronomy Prakshipta Boruah began with an inaugural address by Senior Scientist and Head, Dr MK Doley, who emphasised preserving tribal culture for future generations. Assam Gaurav Binong Teron, the chief guest urged farmers to safeguard traditional knowledge and customs.
Around 150 farmers participated, engaging in farmer–scientist interaction sessions where technical guidance on sustainable and climate-resilient farming was shared. The event also featured a traditional seed exchange, art competition for students on tribal culture and thematic training sessions. The workshop was coordinated by KVK staff and concluded with a vote of thanks by SMS Horticulture Shourov Dutta.
