MANGALDAI, Oct 30: At the 2025-26 freshers’ welcome programme held on Thursday at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Adarsha Mahavidyalaya in Dalgaon, Darrang, tributes were paid to renowned artist Zubeen Garg and veteran musician Syed Sadulla, both of whom passed away earlier in the day.
The event, graced by chief guest Shashank Sameer, director, lyricist and RJ of the film Bhaimon Da, began with a welcome address by college principal Dr Lakshmi Prasad Hazarika. Dignitaries included Zubeen Garg’s instrumentalist Rishabh Bhuyan and Bhaimon Da co-director Tapan Dutta.

The gathering reminisced about Zubeen Garg’s contributions to music and cinema. A minute’s silence was observed in memory of Syed Sadulla, and the programme concluded with a cultural performance by singer Bidisha Devi. Earlier in the morning, the college flag was hoisted and wreaths were laid at the martyrs’ memorial as part of the welcome ceremony.
