The cattle smugglers have developed new techniques for cattle theft. The thieves now transport stolen cows in luxury cars during the night. A similar incident occurred in Sootea on Wednesday night. According to information, the police received a tip-off that a luxury car was heading towards Tezpur carrying two cattle inside it. Acting on this, a team of Sootea police, led by Shyamal Jyoti Saikia, officer-in-charge of the police station, waited for the car to reach Sootea. Upon seeing the police team, the driver attempted to flee at high speed. However, the car, bearing registration number AS 02 AJ 6487, crashed into a post on a concrete bridge. The driver managed to escape, abandoning the Maruti Baleno car. Later, the police team recovered two cows from the car and seized the vehicle.
