KOKRAJHAR, June 24: The Upendra Nath Brahma Trust (UNBT) has appealed to all visitors to maintain the sanctity of Thulungapuri—the resting place of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma—by refraining from making political statements within the premises.
Thulungapuri, located in Dotma in Kokrajhar district of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), has become a revered site for followers of Bodofa’s ideals.
In an official press statement issued on Tuesday, UNBT Chairman Dimacha Dwibrang Mwchahary expressed heartfelt gratitude to the scholars, political leaders, social activists, and citizens who regularly visit Thulungapuri to pay tribute to the iconic Bodo leader.
The Trust acknowledged the site’s evolution into a spiritual and philosophical centre, symbolising Bodofa’s enduring message of peace, unity, and the philosophy of “Live and Let Live.”
However, the Trust raised concerns over recent instances where political remarks were made during media interactions at the site, which it said could undermine the solemnity and spiritual essence of Thulungapuri.
“Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma is remembered as a visionary figure, revered across communities, and regarded as being above politics, similar to the stature of Mahatma Gandhi,” the statement read.
To preserve the dignity of the site, the Trust has requested visitors to refrain from making political or controversial statements while within the Thulungapuri compound.
It also urged media personnel to avoid posing politically sensitive questions during their coverage or interviews conducted at the site.
“Thulungapuri stands as a beacon of inclusive philosophy and people’s unity. Let us preserve its sanctity and allow it to continue inspiring generations,” the statement added.
