HAFLONG, Nov 2: Dr Munjpara Mahendrabhai, Union minister of state for Ayush and women and child development, conducted a comprehensive visit to Dima Hasao, focusing on various aspects of child and women welfare initiatives. The minister visited the Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in Zion village and inspected the facilities at the Haflong Civil Hospital. Accompanied by Debolal Gorlosa, the chief executive member (CEM) of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, and Samuel Changsan, the executive member in charge of Medical affairs, Dr Munjpara embarked on this pivotal tour.
In a meeting held in the morning at the conference hall of Haflong Circuit House, the minister convened discussions with heads of various line departments. Principal secretary Thai Tsho Daulagupu presented a comprehensive overview via a detailed presentation, which allowed the minister to note specific areas for potential improvement. Dr Munjpara suggested enhancing certain aspects and proposed incorporating rehabilitation centers into the forthcoming medical hospital project in the district. This initiative was mentioned during the recent declaration by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on October 28.
Dr Munjpara engaged with Anganwadi and Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers during a review meeting at the District Library Auditorium hall in Haflong. The minister lauded the commendable efforts of ASHA workers and emphasized the importance of supplementary nutrition at the AWCs. He provided insights into addressing anemia issues concerning women and children, underlining its causes and effects.
The meeting witnessed a notable announcement by CEM Debolal Gorlosa, declaring a Rs 500 incentive and a scooty for the best-performing ASHA workers.
The session included the attendance of principal secretary Thai Tsho Daulagupu, ACS, secretary Partha Johori, deputy secretaries Rebecca Changsan and Prabhat Pegu, alongside the presence of SDM & HO Medical and Health Services and other key officials.
