KOKRAJHAR, May 2: The ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) released its Lok Sabha Election Manifesto 2024, titled ‘Goal-Beautiful Bodoland’ at a programme held at the party’s central office in Kokrajhar on Wednesday evening.
The manifesto was released amidst the presence of several party leaders and well wishers.
It may be mentioned that UPPL, a part of the NDA, has fielded its lone candidate, Joyanta Basumatary from the Kokrajhar (ST) Lok Sabha constituency, while extending full support to the alliance candidates of the BJP and AGP in the rest of the constituencies of the state.
Bodoland Territorial Region (EM) executive member and chairman of election manifesto drafting committee, Ranjit Basumatary, senior party leaders Pratibha Brahma, Nathuram Boro and Chinmoy Dey released the party’s election manifesto.
The election manifesto of UPPL party comprising of 150 guarantees revolved around 36 themes while highlighting the welfare and development of the citizens across the region. They included good governance in BTR, implementation of Bodo Peace Accord 2020, quality education, Giyan Swrang Bithangki Special Provisions for differently abled persons, youth development and sports, BTR Skill Mission- SEED, Bodoland Digital Literacy and Proficiency Mission, etc.
Addressing the media persons, Ranjit Basumatary said, “Under the dynamic leadership of party president, Pramod Boro, UPPL is fully committed to work for the all-round development of the people of Bodoland Territorial Region.”
He further said, “The manifesto comprising of 150 guarantees for the people of Kokrajhar constituency highlights our collective vision, mission, objectives and strategy to sustain peace and security, foster all-round development and ensure good governance for fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of all the ethnic, linguistic and religious communities of BTR.”
He expressed his confidence that the NDA backed UPPL candidate for Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, Joyanta Basumatary will win from the Kokrajhar constituency as majority of the people will cast vtheir vote in his favour.
Speaking on the occasion, Pratibha Brahma, UPPL leader said, “Our manifesto is not only about promises, but we have laid down our strategies for their actual implementation. We will specially focus on child rights and protection, development of youth, women empowerment and holistic inclusion of differently abled persons.”
