HOJAI, Aug 21: Hojai district Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) celebrated its foundation day along with Janmashtami with religious fervour at Geeta Ashram in Hojai on Friday.
On this occasion, day-long programmes were organised in a befitting manner. In the morning, Ratan Das, president, VHP, Hojai district hoisted the flag of VHP, which was followed by Gau (Cow) puja and Shri Krishna puja. Then a colourful procession with live tableaus of Lord Krishna and Radha was taken out from Deshbandhu Girls High School. The procession passed by the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at Geeta-ashram, which was followed by dance competition, quiz competition, etc. After the procession, ‘prasadam’ was distributed among the devotees which was followed by ‘Dharam Sabha’. Ramkrishna Ghosh, local MLA, Shiladitya Deb, ex-MLA, Ashok Kejriwal, general secretary, VHP Hojai district, Anup Deb, district president, BJP, Chaturthi Rani Biswas, chairperson, Hojai Municipal Board, Samir Chakraborty, ex-district president, BJP and many volunteers were present during the day’s programmes.
