Week-long celebration of 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Borphukan at Nagaon

NAGAON, Nov 20: Along with the rest of the state, district administration as well as district police administration celebrated the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Borphukan with a week-long programme at Nagaon since Friday last.
As part of the celebration, the district police administration in association with 9th Assam Police Battalion, Barhampur took out a march past throughout the small town on Friday last. The march past rally started from Nagaon Police Reserve Playground and traversed through the main road of the town.
Meanwhile as part of celebration, a sand art exhibition was opened for general public of the district at Nagaon Nehrubali field by district administration and also the video of the district theme song on Bir Lachit Borphukan’s 400th birth anniversary was ceremonially released by deputy commissioner, Nagaon Narendra Kr Shah.
The lyric as well as tune of the theme song was composed by singer cum musician Kanu Kandoli while the music of the song is arranged by instrumentalist Pranjal Borah. Singers like Krishna Das Bora, Nabanita Sarma, Mrinmoy Shandilya and Kanu Kandoli dubbed their voices as well as melodies in the lyrics.
Superintendent of police, Leena Doley, additional deputy commissioner Deemple Boruah said that other senior officials of district administration as well as police were present in the programme.
Apart from this, traditional games like ‘Tekeli Bhanga’ competition were also organised among the officials of district and police administration at Nagaon Nehrubali field, a release added.
