KHERONI, June 5 West Karbi Anglong observes World Environment DaAlong with the rest of the world, West Karbi Anglong observed World Environment Day. As part of the observation, awareness, cleanliness, a plastic-free environment, sapling plantations, etc. were carried out in Kheroni by Shivarai Basong English School and Assam Gram Mitra Society, an NGO. The NGO, along with students, planted saplings on both sides of the Kheroni Sariali-Hawaipur link road.
Participating in the programme, the Chairman of the Forest Development Board, Sarthe Kramsa, said that one should not just plant trees and protect the environment on World Environment Day. The environment should be protected all year. Just as all children respect and love their parents, trees and plants should also be loved. He appealed to all to do the same.

Similarly, the Kheroni Southern Range of the Forest Department planted saplings in Amreng Forest and also in Kheroni Public Park.
