JORHAT, Oct 8: The Assam Agricultural University will introduce yoga and meditation classes in the undergraduate courses of the colleges of the university.
An AAU official informed that vice chancellor Dr Bidyut Chandan Deka who attended the ‘Vice Chancellors Conference of Agricultural Universities’ from September 30 to October 2 at Kanha Shanti Vanam, Hyderabad, disclosed that as per the restructured UG curricula in accordance with National Education Policy 2020, a three week yoga and meditation foundation course will be mandatory in the new syllabus.
The official said that there will be more focus on skill development as per NEP 2020.
The official quoting Dr Deka said, “A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on October 1 with Kamlesh D Patel (Daaji) of Heartfulness Education Trust and Dr RC Agarwal, DDG, Indian Council of Agricultural Research to introduce yoga in ICAR affiliated universities.”
