GUWAHATI, April 26: Amazon India will provide free health check-ups to more than 80,000 delivery associates and partners across the country by the end of 2025, according to an official statement released by the company.
The initiative, which has already seen medical camps conducted in Tamil Nadu and the Delhi NCR region, aims to strengthen Amazon’s ongoing efforts to support the health and well-being of its last-mile delivery workforce. The camps are being held at Amazon’s last-mile delivery stations and are managed in collaboration with Marsh and Care Insurance.
Services offered at the camps include eye exams, dental check-ups, BMI assessments, and consultations with general physicians. Delivery associates can access these services by presenting a government-issued ID at the participating camp locations.
“We’re proud to launch these comprehensive medical camps across India to support delivery associates’ and delivery partners’ wellbeing,” said Dr. Karuna Shankar Pande, Vice President, Amazon Logistics, Amazon India. “This initiative strengthens Amazon’s and its delivery service partners’ robust benefits package, which already includes Group Mediclaim and Group Personal Accident insurance.”
The next phase of the health camps will focus on North Indian cities such as Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Noida, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Varanasi. Medical professionals at the camps not only assess basic health indicators but also offer personalized health advice, especially in the context of rising summer temperatures in the region. Tips on staying hydrated and recognizing early signs of heat exhaustion are shared with delivery associates to help them stay safe while on duty.
For cases requiring further treatment, doctors provide prescriptions and follow-up recommendations, allowing associates to seek additional care at clinics or hospitals of their choice.
The medical initiative complements other support efforts, including Amazon’s benefits programmes for delivery associates under “I Have Space” (IHS), Flex, and DSP models. Among these is the expansion of the company’s *Ashray* centres, rest stops designed for delivery personnel. Amazon plans to increase the number of Ashray centres to 100 nationwide by 2025. These centres offer amenities such as air-conditioned seating, clean drinking water, mobile charging stations, and refreshments, operating daily from 9 AM to 9 PM.
Each Ashray centre can accommodate up to 15 people at a time, providing a much-needed rest facility in high-footfall urban areas and contributing to better working conditions for delivery workers in India’s fast-growing ecommerce and logistics ecosystem.
