GUWAHATI, April 26: Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, has announced the launch of a new Post Graduate Diploma in Development Leadership, an 11-month part-time programme aimed at mid to senior-level professionals in the development sector. The details were shared in an official statement from the university.
Designed to accommodate working professionals, the programme combines online and on-campus learning spread across three terms. It targets individuals with eight or more years of experience in NGOs, grassroots organisations, and social movements, particularly those in or preparing for leadership roles.
According to the university, the course seeks to deepen participants’ understanding of development realities in India, shaped by historical and lived experiences. It aims to equip them with tools to explore alternative development approaches that emphasise equity, justice, and sustainability. Additionally, the curriculum includes components to strengthen leadership, communication, financial management, and data analysis skills.
“This programme allows mid-career and senior professionals in the sector to reflect and situate their organizational experiences in the larger perspectives of development. It helps them to broaden their horizon to better inform their work and capacity to lead,” said Arima Mishra, Director of the School of Development at Azim Premji University.
Azim Premji University was established in 2010 under an Act of the Karnataka Government and is sponsored by the Azim Premji Foundation. It operates as a not-for-profit institution with the stated mission of contributing to a just, equitable, humane, and sustainable society.
