GUWAHATI, April 9: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a roadshow to announce CII Excon which witnessed the participation of senior officials from the Government along with industry leaders and stakeholders from the infrastructure and construction equipment sector. Excon is South Asia’s largest construction equipment and construction technology trade fair, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is scheduled to be held from May 17-21 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Bengaluru.
It will spread over 3 lakh square meters of display area and is expected to attract over 1000 exhibitors from India and abroad including countries like the USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, UAE, South Korea, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. The 5-day exhibition would also attract over 40,000 business visitors from all over the world.
VG Sakthi Kumar, Member EXCON 2021 Steering Committee and managing director, Schwing Stetter (India) Pvt Ltd said, “This is the eleventh edition of the EXCON and our theme this year is on ‘Building India for a New World: Competitiveness, Growth, Sustainability, Technology. EXCON will exemplify the role of smart technologies and innovation in India’s infrastructure development to achieve the vision of making India the global hub for Construction Equipment Manufacturing by 2030.”
“Indian CE industry, being the 3rd largest market in the world, currently holds a prominent position in the global CE landscape. Government of India’s ambitious Rs 111 Lakh Crore National Infrastructure Pipeline would augur well for the Indian Construction Equipment industry to become the 2nd largest CE market in the world, with a size of USD 25 billion by 2030,” added Sakthi Kumar.
Some of the highlights of Excon include an exclusive focus on Alternate Fuels, AI Pavilion, Finance Plaza, Skills, Women operating construction equipment and machinery, Equal opportunity awards for women, MSMEs, Digital Transformation sustainability, and safety among others.
Abhijit Barooah, co-chairman, CII North East Council & managing director Premier Cryogenics Limited said, “Encouraging the adoption of world-class technologies for speedy implementation of infrastructure projects is the current need of the State. EXCON with the presence of world-class players in the construction equipment sector, will not only deliver the best-in-class technologies along with cost-effective solutions but will also bring more awareness to all stakeholders on the latest developments in CE Industry. The allocation of Rs 20,000 crore in the Union Budget for PM Gati Shakti – multi-modal connectivity for the States with a focus on Roads, Railways, Airports, Ports, and Waterways besides expansion of 25,000 km of National Highway Network in 2022-23 would give a tremendous push for infrastructure development in the country.”
